Ilia Darchiashvili has met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium

Within the framework of his visit to Brussels, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili  held a meeting with Hadja Lahbib, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade and the Federal Cultural Institutions of the Kingdom of Belgium.
Discussions focused on the existing close cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries in both bilateral and international formats.
The ministers once again noted the importance of expanding cooperation in various fields, including towards deepening trade and economic ties.
Hadja Lahbib once again emphasized Belgium’s strong support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the country's European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
The sides highlighted the importance of the European Commission's historic decision to grant Georgia a European perspective. They expressed the hope that following the implementation of the European Commission's recommendations, Georgia would be granted a candidate status. Special mention was made of the importance of Belgium’s support in this important process.
While on the theme of deepening relations between the two countries, the ministers especially noted the importance of Georgia's participation in the international art festival - "Europalia" as an honored guest, which is a good opportunity to promote Georgia and its culture not only in the Kingdom of Belgium, but also across the European continent and beyond.
The ministers once again noted the need of exchanging high-level visits. Ilia Darchiashvili invited his Belgian colleague to Georgia.
