Ambassador Vakhtang Makharoblishvili took part in the Policy Dialogue “Can economy and trade keep the Eastern Partnership policy afloat?”
H.E. Vakhtang Makharoblishvili, Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Head of the Mission of Georgia to the European Union, took part in the Policy Dialogue “Can economy and trade keep the Eastern Partnership policy afloat?”. The event was organized by the European Policy Center, in cooperation with Ukrainian Prism and the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum.
On the panel "Trade and economic Integration in the Eastern Partnership: New Ambitions for the Candidates’s trio", together with the Ambassador of Georgia, the speakers were H.E. Ambassador Daniela Morari, Head of the Mission of Moldova to the European Union, and H.E. Ambassador Vsevolod Chentsov, Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the European Union. Veronika Movchan, academic director of the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting, moderated the panel.
The event focused on the need to reform the Eastern Partnership and the role of trade and economy in this context, taking into account the current EU enlargement reality.
Vakhtang Makharoblishvili touched upon the benefits reaped by Georgia within the Eastern Partnership, the current dynamics of EU-Georgia relations, and future steps on Georgia's path towards EU Membership. The Ambassador highlighted the importance of a creative approach to maintain the relevance of the Eastern Partnership, putting a special emphasis on connectivity and security.
