Vakhtang Makharoblishvili met with Stefano Sannino

On January 11, 2024 Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Head of the Mission of Georgia to the European Union, H.E. Vakhtang Makharoblishvili met with the Secretary General of European External Action Service (EEAS) Stefano Sannino.
 
During the meeting, Stefano Sannino congratulated Ambassador Makharoblishvili on the granting of the candidate status to Georgia. At his end, Vakhtang Makharoblishvili highlighted the importance of the European Council’s decision and confirmed to the Secretary General the readiness of the Georgian side to continue its efforts on the EU membership path. The Ambassador highlighted the importance of fulfilling European Commissions 9 priorities, as well as deepening economic integration with the European Union and integration into various EU programs.
 
At the meeting, the Ambassador drew attention to Russia’s ongoing occupation of the Georgian regions and the killing of a Georgian citizens. The parties also discussed regional security issues, the role of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in promoting peace and security in Georgia and the importance of Geneva International Discussions.
 
At his end, the Secretary General underscored that Georgia can count on the EU’s continuous support.
