ILIA DARCHIASHVILI HAS ADDRESSED AN INFORMAL MEETING OF THE EU GENERAL AFFAIRS COUNCIL
On 30 April, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili participated in an informal meeting of the EU General Affairs Council at the invitation of the EU Presidency, marking the 20th anniversary of the EU enlargement in 2024. During his address, he emphasized Georgia's ongoing journey towards EU membership, highlighting that Georgia's civilizational choice is reflected in the country's Constitution.
Darchiashvili also discussed the daily challenges faced by Georgia, including territorial occupation and regional threats, underscoring the country's reform efforts to align with EU standards amidst these challenges.
He further mentioned Georgia's active collaboration with European partners across various reform areas and expressed optimism about the country's future successes in its European integration process.
During his visit to Brussels on 29-30 April, Minister Darchiashvili also participated in events commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 2004 EU enlargement and engaged in meetings with EU officials and fellow ministers.
