Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Head of the Mission of Georgia to the EU H.E. Vakhtang Makharoblishvili held a meeting with Ambassador Delphine Pronk, Chair of the Political and Security Committee of the European Union.
 
The parties focused on the dynamics of Georgia-EU cooperation in the fields of security and defense, addressing regional security issues as well. Ambassador Makharoblishvili provided a comprehensive update to the PSC Chair on Russia's ongoing occupation of Georgian regions and the situation in the occupied territories, emphasizing the recent killing of Georgian citizen in Kirbali village, in the vicinity of the occupation line. The Ambassadors highlighted the pivotal role of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in promoting peace and security in Georgia.
 
Ambassador Makharoblishvili provided detailed insights into the ongoing process of Georgia's accession to the European Union as well, outlining future steps ahead. He underscored the significance of the positive recommendation of the European Commission to the European Council on granting Georgia EU membership candidate status by the end of the year.
