Vakhtang Makharoblishvili met with the Director-General of the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) Maciej Popowski

On February 6, 2024 Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Head of the Mission of Georgia to the EU, H.E. Vakhtang Makharoblishvili met with the Director-General of the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) Mr. Maciej Popowski.

 

The discussions focused on positive dynamics of Georgia-EU cooperation in the area of civil protection and the steps ahead. Special emphasis was put on joining the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) as a participating state and the concrete actions to be implemented in this process.

 

The Director-General expressed support for Georgia’s membership of the UCPM and stressed that the relevant steps will be taken in the near future.
