“THE TRIBUTE FOR THE PROGRESS GEORGIA HAS ACHIEVED ON THE EU PATH IS LARGELY DUE TO GEORGIAN DIPLOMATS” - GERT JAN KOOPMAN
“Your commitment your devotion and your true belief in the European part of your country is a real asset as something that will propel the country further forward” - the Director General of the European Commission's Directorate General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert Jan Koopman, announced this in a video address recorded for the "Ambassadors' Conference 2023".
According to him, diplomats have a really great mission in terms of fulfilling the foreign policy goals, and the tribute for the progress Georgia has achieved on the EU path is largely due to Georgian diplomats.
“You have really earned this very important step on your European path. As ambassadors you play a key role not just in picking up information in the capitals in which you serve but also in communicating Georgia’s keen desire to join the European family” - Gert Jan Koopman said.
As he highlighted, having become a candidate country is a very important step but obviously Georgia needs to advance further. The new Year will bring a lot of possibilities in this regard.
