ILIA DARCHIASHVILI HAS MET WITH HIS BELGIAN COUNTERPART HADJA LAHBIB
On 10 July 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, met with Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade, and the Federal Cultural Institutions, Hadja Lahbib.
During the meeting, they highlighted the significance of the upcoming NATO anniversary summit and discussed the key issues on its agenda. The conversation also addressed security challenges and potential strategies for overcoming them.
The focus was on the main aspects of NATO-Georgia cooperation and the country's integration into the Alliance. The importance of partner countries' participation in the anniversary summit was emphasized. It was noted that Georgia is a vital and reliable partner of the Alliance in the region. Georgia's involvement in the Washington Summit further underscored this point.
The meeting also highlighted Georgia's contributions to strengthening Euro-Atlantic security.
Special attention was given to Georgia's European integration process, especially given Belgium's former chairmanship of the European Union. The granting of candidate status to Georgia in 2023 was acknowledged as a milestone that elevated Georgia's cooperation with the EU to a new level.
Ilia Darchiashvili discussed the ongoing processes and challenges related to Georgia's integration into the European Union, reaffirming Georgia's readiness for further cooperation.
