Visit of the Delegation of Georgia to Belgium
On the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity as the official religion of Georgia, a delegation from the Patriarchate of Georgia visited the Kingdom of Belgium from June 8 to 14, 2026 within the framework of joint events organized by the Government of Georgia and the Patriarchate of Georgia.
During the visit, the delegation brought sacred relics and icons to churches in Brussels, Liège, Ghent, and Antwerp, where the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at each location.
Additionally, in Brussels, Ghent, Liège and Antwerp, the Patriarchate’s delegation held meetings with the representatives of Georgian diaspora. A documentary film dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity as the official religion of Georgia was also screened.
On June 9, the delegation of the Patriarchate, accompanied by His Grace Bishop Dositheos, head of the Georgian Orthodox Diocese of Belgium and the Netherlands, also paid a visit to the Georgian Embassy to Belgium.
