On January 19, 2022, Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Head of the Mission of Georgia to the EU, Vakhtang Makharoblishvili met with the Permanent Representative of Ireland to the European Union, Ambassador Thomas Hanney.
The sides discussed current topics of the EU-Georgia cooperation agenda, such as outcomes of the Eastern Partnership Summit held on December 15, 2021 and prospects for future cooperation, the implementation process of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement (AA), including the DCFTA, ongoing reforms, connectivity, and cooperation in the Associated Trio format.
Particular attention was paid to the challenges to the regional security. Vakhtang Makharoblishvili focused on the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and underscored the importance of keeping Georgia high on the EU`s agenda.
The Irish colleague reaffirmed Ireland`s unwavering support for Georgia`s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
