On July 11, 2022, the Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Head of the Mission of Georgia to the European Union Vakhtang Makharoblishvili met with the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, Mr. David McAllister.
The sides discussed a wide range of topics including the upcoming AFET visit to Georgia, scheduled for July 20-21, and headed by Mr. David McAllister.
Parties also emphasized the importance of the recent European Council and underlined that granting a European perspective to Georgia was a historic decision whereby the Council confirmed that Georgia is part of Europe and Georgia's future lies within the European Union. Ambassador Vakhtang Makharoblishvili underscored that Georgia will actively work to address the European Commission’s recommendations and will deliver on all obligations regarding its reform agenda.
The sides highlighted the European Parliament’s important role in Georgia's European integration.
Special attention was paid to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, grave regional security situation, and its impact on Georgia. The Ambassador talked about the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and security challenges as well.
Vakhtang Makharoblishvili thanked the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee for his staunch support to Georgia’s European Integration path.
